Alba Dubh: memories, dark landscapes and fading light from Scotland

Fading memories of home in a series of early landscapes from Scotland. Reworked more recently in black-and-white with the exposure turned all the way down to reveal some intricate subtleties of light. Envisioned these as very small scale works, almost like etchings, and love the black-on-black tonal range and textures.

Alba Dubh translates from Scots Gaelic as roughly Dark or Black Scotland. There’s a part of me too that reads alba as white, and so adds black white into the mix.
